Can't Beat the Heat - NC Symphony "Patriotic Pops" at Koka Booth Amphitheater
Concert cancelled due to excessive on-stage temperature
Twenty-five members, family and friends showed up at Koka Booth Amphitheater on Friday, June 12th for the NC Symphony's Summerfest "Patriotic Pops" concert. Chapter Vice-President Matt Segal has worked with the NC Symphony and organized the outing. Some arrived shortly after gates opened to beat the rush.
It was the hottest day of the summer so far - temperatures in Cary reached 101F - and had cooled down to only the low 90's by the scheduled start time. The symphony will not play if the temperature on stage is not below 92 degrees. The assembled crowd at the venue was heated but understanding by the time the concert was cancelled about 8:45 pm. Most seemed to be relieved to be on their way back to air-conditioned homes.
